MeinFall is an application for organizing personal cases, documents, deadlines, contacts, notes and other personal matters. Typical use cases include matters involving authorities, insurance, contracts, complaints and other cases created by the user.

MeinFall uses a user account and synchronization function. Depending on how the app is used, personal data and user-created content may therefore be stored both locally on the device and, where synchronization is enabled or required for account features, on the MeinFall / 5LL backend infrastructure.

MeinFall does not sell personal data, does not use personal case content for advertising, does not contain social-media functions and does not publicly share users' cases with other users.

Depending on the functions used, MeinFall may process the following categories of data:

MeinFall requires a user account for account-based and synchronization features. For this purpose, an email address, an internal user ID and technical account information are processed.

Account information is used to provide the MeinFall account, associate synchronized content with the correct user and support account security.

Login and authentication information as well as session information may be processed to authenticate users, maintain sessions and protect access to the account.

Passwords are not intended to be stored or displayed in plain text. Password-related processing is implemented using appropriate authentication mechanisms rather than retaining readable passwords.

MeinFall stores app data locally on the device. The local database is encrypted using SQLCipher.

The app also uses protected document storage, encrypted .mfall backups, a recovery-key function and an optional app lock as part of its security design.

Users with a MeinFall account can synchronize data between supported devices. Synchronized data may include cases, timeline entries, contacts, deadlines, reminders, documents and other content associated with a case.

Synchronization is performed through the MeinFall / 5LL server and backend infrastructure. Synchronized data can also be made available through the MeinFall web version for use on a computer.

Data transmitted as part of synchronization is transferred using HTTPS/TLS.

Users may add documents, PDF files, other files, photos and images to their cases. These files may contain personal or sensitive information chosen and provided by the user.

Where the synchronization function is used, such files may also be synchronized through the MeinFall infrastructure.

Users decide which cases and information they create in MeinFall. This may include case titles, categories, file numbers, customer or contract numbers, notes, timeline entries, telephone notes and other user-entered information.

MeinFall does not provide a public sharing function for personal cases and does not use these contents for advertising.

Users can manually create contacts or contact persons within their cases. Information may include a name, organization, telephone number, email address and notes.

MeinFall is not a contact network or social-media platform. Contact information is used for the user’s own case organization.

MeinFall offers MeinFall Plus. Available purchase models may include a monthly subscription, an annual subscription and a Lifetime purchase.

Payment is processed by Google Play on Android and by the Apple App Store on iOS. Five Lion Labs does not directly process users’ credit card or bank account details.

MeinFall may process information required to determine and provide an entitlement, including product ID, plan, status, expiry date and transaction or store references where technically necessary.

When synchronization or account-based functions are used, data is transmitted between the app, supported devices, the MeinFall web version and the MeinFall / 5LL backend infrastructure as required to provide those functions.

Synchronized data is transmitted using HTTPS/TLS.

Account and synchronized MeinFall data are generally stored for as long as the account is maintained and the data is required to provide the service.

Users may delete individual content where the relevant function permits this and may delete their account as described below.

Where legal retention obligations apply, affected information may remain stored for the period required by law.

Account deletion is intended to delete the user account, synchronized cases, timeline content, contacts, deadlines, reminders, synchronized documents and other MeinFall data associated with the account, subject to any applicable legal retention obligations.

Where the GDPR applies, Five Lion Labs processes personal data on the following legal bases where appropriate:

• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: processing necessary to provide the MeinFall account, synchronization, web access, Premium entitlements and other requested app functions, or to take steps at the user’s request before entering into a contract.
• Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR: processing required to comply with legal obligations, for example statutory retention obligations where applicable.
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: processing necessary for legitimate interests such as maintaining technical security, preventing misuse, protecting sessions and operating a reliable service, provided that the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject do not override those interests.
• Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR: where Five Lion Labs requests consent for a specific processing activity. Consent is used only where a processing operation actually relies on consent and may be withdrawn for the future.

Personal data may be processed within the MeinFall / 5LL infrastructure where this is necessary to provide account, synchronization and web functions.

Google and Apple may receive or independently process information where their platforms are used for app distribution, purchases or subscriptions. Personal MeinFall case content is not provided to advertising networks and is not sold.

Depending on the processing performed by Google or Apple, information may be processed outside the European Union or European Economic Area. Such processing is governed by the respective provider’s privacy terms and applicable safeguards.

MeinFall has been developed with privacy and security in mind. Based on the current technical design, security measures include an SQLCipher-encrypted local database, protected document storage, encrypted .mfall backups, a recovery-key function, an optional app lock and HTTPS/TLS for synchronized data transfers.

No technical system can guarantee absolute security. Five Lion Labs therefore uses the described measures to reduce relevant risks without claiming that unauthorized access or data loss can be completely excluded.

Where the statutory requirements are met, data subjects have rights under the GDPR including the following:
